When customers ask how long auto transport takes, what they're really asking is two separate questions: (1) how long until a carrier picks up my car, and (2) how long until it arrives. Let's break both down.
Typical transit times by distance
- Under 200 miles: 1–2 days
- 200–500 miles: 1–3 days
- 500–1,000 miles: 3–5 days
- 1,000–1,500 miles: 4–6 days
- 1,500–2,500 miles: 5–8 days
- Coast-to-coast (2,500–3,000+ miles): 7–9 days
These transit times measure pickup-to-delivery. Add 1–5 days for the carrier dispatch window (the time between when you book and when a truck physically arrives at your pickup address).

After you book, your shipment enters our load board and we match it with a carrier whose route fits yours. Popular routes (major metro to major metro) often dispatch within 24 hours. Rural pickups, snowbird-season Florida lanes, and unusual routes (e.g., Montana to Maine) can take 3–5 days to find an ideal carrier.
Phase 2: Transit (the times above)
Once your car is loaded, federal regulations cap drivers at 11 hours of driving per day and require 10 consecutive hours off duty. That works out to ~550 miles of actual road travel per day. Add stops for other deliveries, weigh stations, and weather, and the real-world average is closer to 400–500 miles per day.

- Rural pickup/delivery: every detour off the interstate costs the driver time
